Meet Our Founder
Darren started his construction journey in 1986 at Dennis W. Burchell Construction, a leading San Diego company. He developed skills in concrete, framing, electrical, plumbing, drywall installation and texture, tile installation, and customer service. Above all, he learned to approach every project with patience and a focus on quality, a principle he continues to follow.Â
Mastering the Structure
Following his experience at Dennis W. Burchell Construction, he became interested in the structural aspects of building. He joined two general contracting companies in San Diego Geoff Waugh and Charles Gladman Construction that specialized in rough framing. Both companies were committed to delivering high-quality craftsmanship, whether for small renovations or custom-framed homes.
Transition to Management
Darren moved on to become an assistant superintendent at the Corky McMillin Companies, known for building tract homes and communities. His main duties were to prepare homes for city inspection, accompany city inspectors during each inspection, and ensure all inspections were passed. The inspection process included foundation, framing, electrical, plumbing, lath and plaster, and drywall. He was later promoted to superintendent at the Corky McMillin Companies in the Imperial Valley, where he developed a detailed knowledge of the entire building process, including scheduling master-planned communities from foundation to completion.
Proudly Serving San Diego County For 17 Years
In 2008, Darren created Home Inspections San Diego. He leveraged his years of construction experience and familiarity with the inspection process for tract homes to grow a reputable home inspection company. The company is guided by principles such as punctuality, taking time with each inspection, expertise, ongoing education, responding to all questions during the inspection, and being available by phone, text, or email for any future client concerns.
In his free time he enjoys surfing, swimming, snow skiing, sailing, running, racquetball, tennis, hiking and traveling.
